LAST WEEKS OF SALES! SHOP SMART!

July is here! And it is difficult to resist to tempting “SALES” in every window. Decide to hit the boutiques for ‘some sales shopping’? Stop right there! Don`t buy randomly! You need a plan!

We decided to consult experienced Personal Shopper Carolina Rodriguez Barros from Dare to Glow for advice about how to shop during sales period.

Here are some of the secrets that she revealed that would help you save money and keep away from buying useless stuff.

1/ First, go and check your wardrobe before going on sales shopping, so that you know exactly what you need. ‘Never, ever, go out shopping without the list and a budget.’

2/ The best items to be purchased at sales are:

  • Belts, gloves, umbrellas
  • Cashmere
  • Evening Dress – Only if makes you feel fabulous!
  • Handbags and luggage
  • Make-up and hair-care products
  • Socks and Tights
  • Underwear
  • Scented Candles
  • Signature furniture

3/ Where to buy:

  • Start from Department Stores where you can find several brands on the same surface – Manor, Bon Genie, Globus carry fantastic brands
  • Your favorite boutiques
  • Signature Furniture on sale can be found at Teo Jacob in Carouge, Geneva.
  • Signature handbags such as Marie Bag from Accent Designs are great items on sale period.

4/  Go to your favorite boutiques or department store few days in advance the sales with your shopping list. Try items on and decide what are you going to take. The day of the sale, you already know what to buy and you will avoid the queue on the fitting room!

5/ Never buy:

  • Last season’s most fashionable item
  • Shoes that don’t fit you – but are the brand you only afford on sales
  • Anything to which you attached the phrase ‘this might be useful one day’
  • An item in a colour that makes you look sick or drab
  • Anything damaged
  • Things that might fit you when you have lost weight – they are not the motivation you really need!

Getting the ‘best deal’ possible might be an illusion, ff you buy an item at a very good price but you only wear it once. Don`t forget the simple fashion math’s:

price of item / times wore = cost per wearing

Wishing you enjoyable shopping!

How to Pack Smart, Travel Light and Look Great!

Going away on holidays? Counting down the days to your VACATION?

Before starting to pack your bags check the list of our hot tips selected in cooperation with experienced Personal Shopper and Glowing Master from Dare to Glow. With them on You will travel light and look stunning!

TIP 1: Make your packing list first. See the example here.

TIP 2: A trip is not the occasion to take the items in your wardrobe you never wear – so take the items you know suit you and you are comfortable with.

TIP 3: Check the Forecast! Even if you are going to somewhere hot, it will be chilly on the plane or in the evening, so take a light sweater or pashmina with You.

TIP 4: Clothes. Think about combinations and colours you feel more comfortable wearing.

  • Start with the bottoms: 1 or 2 trousers and 1 skirt
  • Select one coat or jacket
  • Once you have these main pieces, choose the matching tops: several t-shirts and shirts, 1 sweaters
  • And of course, do not forget your beachwear and nice dress

TIP 5: Shoes. Pack at least two pairs of shoes, and maximum, 3! (to travel, wear the one which takes more space).Chose the shoes – “one comfort one glamour” – that can go with all the outfits.

TIP 6: Handbags. Take a comfortable handbag that you can carry on the shoulders and your hand. Slip a small evening purse into your luggage; It will change the look of an outfit in no-time.

TIP 7: Accessories. jewellery, stockings, hats, gloves, scarves – they can change the tone of an outfit, along with the make-up, so you can wear it twice.

TIP 8: Beauty and Cosmetics. Transfer your favourite shampoo, shower gel and creams into small bottles that you can buy at the local pharmacy. Think at having a travel size set of make-up and perfume. Do not forget sun protection creams.

TIP 9: Do not pack anything you are taking “just in case”. If you happen to get a last minute invite to the Red Carpet Party – take the opportunity to go shopping
